AS Saint-Étienne mourns the death of Kenzo Kies

AS Saint-Étienne is in mourning after announcing the death of 21-year-old Kenzo Kies. The player died two days after drowning in the Rhône.

What happened?

Kenzo Kies was swimming in the river on Monday afternoon before drowning. Firefighters were called to rescue three young men, including the player.

« The Green Generation is in mourning. A resident of the Robert-Herbin Sports Center for seven years, a talented player and a discreet young man appreciated by all, Kenzo Kies lost his life in dramatic circumstances », ASSE posted on its X account.

Kenzo Kies' career

Kenzo Kies was trained at Olympique lyonnais and AS Saint-Étienne. He was under contract with En Avant Guingamp.

En Avant Guingamp sent « its most sincere condolences to the family […] and to all his loved ones » in a statement published on its social networks.
